Floor screeding in Newcastle prior to Solacir microscreed installation
Added: 6th March 2015
Newcastle floor screeding specialists Resin Flooring North East Ltd have installed a cementitious flowable floor screed upon a surface damp proof membrane throughout the basement of a listed residential property in Westgate Newcastle Upon Tyne.
Defective tiled surfaces were removed from the concrete substrate using power tools and the debris removed and placed into a skip. Adhesive, glue and other contamination of the concrete substrate was removed by dust free diamond grinding. Defective parts of the concrete substrate were dug out. Cracks in the concrete substrate were chased out using dust free diamond tooling. The whole floor area of 88m2 was then vacuumed to remove all traces of dust and debris.
A surface damp proof membrane was then applied to the concrete substrate to prevent moisture migration and fully blinded with a dried coarse quartz aggregate and allowed to cure.
Concrete repairs were then made to the substrate using a high quality epoxy resin patch repair mortar. The chased out cracks in the substrate were filled with an epoxy paste and allowed to cure.
An industrial grade flowable cementitious floor screed was then installed throughout the prepared basement floor area at a depth of 15mm.
A Solacir microscreed decorative concrete flooring system is to be installed upon the new floor surface.
